They are accused of bid to smuggle out hashish oil

The city police took the three Maldivian nationals who were arrested for allegedly smuggling hashish oil to various places on Sunday as part of collecting evidence in the case.

The accused, Shaneez Maheer, Ebrahim Fousan Salih and Aymen Ahmed, were taken to two hotels at Thampanoor and near the Secretariat where they had stayed for a few days before they were arrested.

Efforts are on to identify those who had supplied the contraband to the gang to be purportedly smuggled abroad.

Official sources said that the Consulate of the Maldives had been intimated of the arrests and the charges against the accused. The accused will be returned to judicial custody on Tuesday.
