Liver transplant: patient stable

The condition of Basheer, 60, who underwent liver transplant at the Medical College hospital on Monday evening, remains satisfactory, though he continues to be on the ventilator in the intensive care unit, a release by the MCH said here.

This was the first deceased donor liver transplantation performed at the MCH and it had attracted much media attention. The patient is under the care and observation of a team of surgeons and anaesthesiologists of both MCH and KIMS hospital, which is lending technical support to the MCH in the initial phase of the liver transplant programme.
