Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the LED lighting system of the lotus ‘parnasala' at Santhigiri Ashram on Wednesday, the day of the ‘Poojithapeedam Samarpana' celebration and ‘Ardhavaarshika Kumbhamela.'
The celebrations will begin with a ‘Pushpanjali' at 5 a.m. and flag hoisting at 6 a.m. It will be followed by a floral offering at the ‘parnasala,' Guru Darshanam, and other offerings to the Guru.
The Poojithapeedam Samarpana meeting will be inaugurated by Finance Minister K.M. Mani. Social Welfare Minister M.K. Muneer will preside, a press note issued here said.
The Kumbhamela procession, which will begin by 4 p.m., will go round the Spiritual Zone before the ‘kumbhams' and ‘deepams' are submitted to the Guru at the lotus ‘parnasala.' Thousands of devotees and well-wishers from all walks of life are expected to congregate at the ashram on the occasion.
The biannual Kumbhamela is celebrated on the day of the Poojithapeedam Samarpanam celebration, the day which marks spiritual ascension of Abhivandya Shishyapoojitha Amritha Jnana Thapaswini.
The newly installed LED lighting system will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at a meeting scheduled to begin by 7 p.m. Union Minister for State for Food and Public Distribution K.V. Thomas will be present.
The LED lighting system will be switched on as violinist Balabhaskar will lead a team of 40 musicians in a fusion music performance. The light-sound-music show has been directed by film director and sculptor Rajeev Anchal.
The idea of illumination was proposed by cinematographer S. Kumar, and the lighting concepts handled by 3S International, Canada.
