LDF’s to go on an indefinite stir from July 1

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has decided to intensify its agitation in the district, seeking the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and a judicial probe into the solar scam.

A meeting of the LDF district leadership chaired by Anavoor Nagappan here on Wednesday decided to launch an indefinite strike from July 1 near the Martyr’s Column here, demanding speeding up of the Vizhinjam International Container Transhipment project, setting up of High Court Bench in the capital, and development of the National Highways and railway network passing through the district.

A vehicle rally will be taken out in the Assembly constituencies in the district on July 2 and 3 demanding the resignation of the government and a judicial probe into the solar scam. Torchlight processions will be taken out on July 3 evening at the polling booth-level, according to LDF district convenor V. Gangadharan Nadar. On July 4, marches will be taken out to government offices in the 14 constituencies in the district.
