LDF plans stir for Ministers’ resignation

August 31, 2014 02:56 pm | Updated 02:56 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) will hold demonstrations in all the district headquarters on September 3 demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, and Industries Minister V.K. Ebrahim Kunju in the context of an order of a Vigilance court for reinvestigating the Travancore Titanium Products (TTP) corruption case. In a statement here, LDF convener Vaikom Viswan said Congress leader and former Minister K.K. Ramachandran had earlier alleged that Mr. Chandy, Mr. Chennithala, and Mr. Ebrahim Kunju were directly involved in this case, which involved corruption to the tune of more than Rs.200 crore.

Official letters pointing to the role of Mr. Chandy in pushing the project for effluent treatment at the TTP without clearance from the State Pollution Control Board, causing heavy loss to the company, too had become public earlier itself.

He noted that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India too had said the TTP effluent treatment programme had caused heavy loss to the company.
