Land acquisition rules soon

June 14, 2014 12:45 pm | Updated 12:45 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The State government will initiate steps to address the delay in formulating the rules for the Central Act for land acquisition, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash has said.

Replying to a calling attention motion of V. Sivankutty on the need for publishing the rules for the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, Mr. Prakash said the government had constituted an expert committee for framing the rules. The rules would have to be cleared by the Assembly too. Land acquisition could be taken up only after framing the rules, he said.
