A 10-member jury headed by Local Administration Principal Secretary James Varghese will select the outstanding community development societies (CDS) which function under the Kudumbasree Mission here on Saturday and Monday.
The process of selecting the best CDS would be held at the Institute for Management in Government hall. The selection comprises presentation by the short-listed societies and evaluation of reports by the respective district panels.
The societies from urban centres would make their presentations on Saturday and village societies on Monday. Five societies each in both rural and urban categories would be chosen for the State-level awards. Each winner would get Rs.2.5 lakh.
Besides Mr. Varghese, Kudumbasree executive director Sarada Muraleedharan, directors of panchayat and municipal affairs, representatives of Canara Bank and NABARD, and Rural Development Commissioner will be part of the judging panel.
