The A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University has instituted a probe into the question paper leak that came to light a few days ago.
The question paper of the subject ‘Electromagnetic Theory’ of the fifth-semester Electronics and Communication Engineering stream was found to have been leaked through social media a few days before the examination was held on December 6. In the light of allegations that held the teacher who had set the question paper responsible for the leak, the KTU has filed a complaint with the District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) and has called for a detailed probe, Pro Vice Chancellor M. Abdul Rahman has said.
Details handed over
Details of the preliminary probe conducted by the university and the relevant posts on social media have been handed over to the police. A separate complaint has been filed with the police, seeking steps to identify the source of the question paper leak in the social media.
Besides, the university has also constituted a committee comprising one faculty member each of the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, and the Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, to record the statement of the teacher and collect evidence from the institution she worked in. The committee has been directed to submit a detailed inquiry report within December 13.
‘False info’
Dr. Rahman said there were also claims that the question paper of the examination of ‘Microprocessor’ subject, which was conducted on Friday, had leaked in a similar manner. Besides, false information was being propagated to mislead the students. The university has advised students to go only by the information issued through its website www.ktu.edu.in .
