The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has directed the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to resume services from Vizhinjam to Kanjiramkulam-Kazhivoor-Moonnumukku-Nellimoodu-Medical College and Kanjiramkulam-Kazhivoor-East Fort areas.

Chairman, KSHRC, J.B. Koshy in his order directed the Managing Director of the KSRTC to resume services which were stopped due to bad condition of the roads.

The Vizhinjam-Poovar road, which was dug up as part of works to provide power to the Vizhinjam port, was re-laid after the intervention of the Commission.

The Kerala State Electricity Board had provided Rs.2 crore to the Public Works Department for relaying the dug up portions.

When the relaying work was not taken up by PWD and Corporation, a petition was filed by V. Suresh Kumar, general secretary of Kazhivoor people’s action council. The commission gave a direction to relay the road within a month, the Commission said in a release.

Services were stopped because of the bad condition of roads.
