KSEB authorities face action

June 02, 2010 06:17 pm | Updated 06:17 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has decided to initiate action against the authorities of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for “the lapses” in submitting the board's annual income-expense accounts since 2007-08.

In a press release on Tuesday, the KSERC said the action was in consonance with section 142 of the Electricity Act. The board had repeatedly sought time for submitting these accounts citing different reasons.

The KSERC had been indulgent in allowing board more time.

The delay in receiving accurate accounts from the KSEB had made it difficult for the KSERC to take decisions on power tariff structure, the release said.

In the latest instance, the KSEB had yet again sought time to provide the information required by the KSERC saying that certain records had to be obtained from the government.

“After examining the facts, the commission has rejected the request and decided to initiate legal action against the KSEB authorities,” the release said.
