Kovalam literary festival from Oct 2

Pakistani writers Mohammad Haneef, Ali Sethi, H. M. Naqvi and Chinese author Lijia Zhang will be among the litterateurs attending the third edition of the Kovalam literary festival beginning here on October 2.

The two-day festival would be inaugurated by State Minister for Education and Culture M. A. Baby at a function to be held at the Kanakakkunnu palace here.

Poet and Jnanpith laureate O. N. V. Kurup will preside over the function, Binoo John, organiser of the festival, told reporters here.

Several writers including Sarnath Banerjee, Basharat Peer, Mriduala Kozhy, Manu Joseph, Daman Singh and Zubeida Jaffer (South Africa) would be attending the festival reading portions from their works.

A debate on Indo-Pak relations would be held on October 3 in which Mohammad Hanif, Ali Sethi, H M Naqvi, Shashi Tharoor, Basharat Peer, Debroah Baker Ghosh and Satish Jacob would participate. Amit Baruah would be the moderator.
