Kodiyeri flays attack on scribe

February 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has accused the Sangh Parivar of attempting to gag the media by raising a threat against Sindhu Sooryakumar, a newsperson at Asianet News Channel.

Mr. Balakrishnan said in a statement here on Sunday that Ms. Sooryakumar was being targeted for dispassionately anchoring a discussion JNU issue. The Sangh Parivar had raised grave allegations and intimidated her and exhorted not to spare her through the social media platform.

The parivar organisations had raised a threat to the life of media persons who did not openly subscribe to its views. This amounts to a replication of the violence unleashed at Patiala Court, he said.
