Govt. failed to pursue project: VS

April 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan on Monday said the government had dealt a severe blow to the memory of late Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer by showing gross neglect towards the development of the Kochi Cancer Institute, which was his dream project. For the record, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had laid the foundation stone for the institute on August 18, 2014, and the Rs.480-crore project, prepared by the Hospital Service Consultancy Corporation, was immediately approved. However, it turns out that the Cabinet has still not approved the project proposal, the Opposition Leader said in a statement here. — Special Correspondent
