Kerala State Road Transport Corporation pays salary to permanent staff

April 02, 2014 12:21 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 07:41 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Despite the financial crisis faced by the State and the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), the transport utility was able to pay the salary of 35,000 permanent employees on its rolls on Monday, the last working day of March.

But, uncertainty prevails over the payment of pension to 37,000 retired personnel. The High Court gave a directive to the KSRTC to clear the arrears by March 31. But, the management has sought extension of time to settle the arrears in view of the financial crisis.

The KSRTC needs Rs.10 crore to pay the pension arrears for February and Rs. 37 crore for paying the pension due from March 5.
