An information technology (IT) delegation from Kerala, led by Ishita Roy, Director, Kerala State IT Mission, reached Germany earlier this week to participate in CeBIT 2011, the international IT fair at Hannover. The team also held discussions to formalise plans for collaboration with PRE Park in Kaiserslautern.

The delegation includes Mervin Alexander, Chief Executive Officer, Technopark; Binu Pazhoor, Chief Executive Officer, Infopark; Sabarish, Coordinator, IT Mission; and Syed Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Palnar Transmedia and Director of Goethe-Zentrum, Thiruvananthapuram.

The delegation was received by the Lord Mayor of the City of Kaiserslautern. The team visited the PRE-Technology Park and held meetings with some prominent IT companies. Lord Mayor Klaus Weichel and Michael Wenk, Chief Executive Officer of the PRE Park, expressed their desire to work closely with the Kerala State IT Mission and the technology parks in Kerala. They agreed to forge and sustain a long-term IT cooperation between Kerala and Kaiserslautern. A video conference session will be organised in May for the IT companies in Kerala to interact with the PRE Park authorities, Mr. Alexander said in an e- mail from Germany.

The delegation later participated in CeBIT, the world's largest IT trade fair. The Kerala IT stall is being used as a platform by several IT companies from Technopark and Infopark to promote their products and services in the German market.

Ms. Ishita Roy said she was satisfied with the results they got from the constructive meetings the delegation had had in Germany. The team is scheduled to return here on March 8.
