She scanned the paintings on display at the Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum, listening to the artist’s translation of the abstract works, and even returned to have a second glimpse of her favourites. Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit dropped by the ongoing ‘Password of Kerala’ exhibition here on Saturday evening, after reading a news feature about the work done by artist Chandranandan.
A little over a week after she was sworn in as Governor, Ms. Dikshit seems to be on a mission to savour the State’s cultural and arts scene, having visited the SMSM Institute as well just the day before. She appreciated the colours and the unusual style adopted by the artist to capture life in Kerala. “He has blended traditional and modern ideas, and abstract techniques with ease,” she observed. One of the works she returned to was a painting that won Chandranandan the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi award a few years ago.
It was Francophone day, when film screenings were scheduled and a get-together of students was also organised. Staff were seen rearranging the programmes for the Governor’s visit.
