Inaugurates the 159th birth anniversary celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru at his birthplace in Chempazhanthy
The name, personality, and ethos of Sree Narayana Guru are immortal and will continue to give India a privileged space amongst all nations for centuries to come, Governor Nikhil Kumar has said.
Inaugurating the 159 birth anniversary celebrations of the Guru at his birthplace in Chempazhanthy near here on Thursday, the Governor said homage was being paid to Sree Narayana Guru and his teachings by students and researchers across the world more than 80 years after his demise. The Guru was a great advocate of a society that did not bind itself down to old orthodox thoughts of class distinction or superstition. The teachings of people such as the Guru had made the world look at India as a country that was different from the rest, which had the ability to look into itself, to retrospect, and come up with thoughts which would enable it to get rid of socially backward concepts such as class discrimination, he said. The Guru was to be remembered, respected and followed as a beacon of light, as someone of a new thought, and whose ethos would remain immortal throughout centuries during which India would be a country to be reckoned with, he added. M.A. Wahid, MLA, welcomed the gathering while Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom president Prakashananda presided.
