Corporation health supervisor spreading canards, says MD
The Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (KEPCO) has alleged that a city Corporation health supervisor has conspired to destroy the reputation of its restaurant by spreading canards about seizing stale food.
KEPCO managing director said in a release in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday that the health supervisor reached the restaurant at 8.15 a.m. on October 10 and took away two containers, a mixie jar, basin, and a casserole without informing the officials. KEPCO officials came to know of the raid from newspaper reports. While seizing food, a detailed list of the seized items should be given to the officials in charge.
The norms had not been observed. This could be a conspiracy to show that stale food seized from elsewhere had been taken from KEPCO, he said.The restaurant functioned from 12 noon to 11 p.m. and the quality of food should be examined while the eatery was open, the release said. Food was prepared under the supervision of a food and beverages manger and an executive chef. The restaurant had freezers to store food materials at minus18 degree Celsius.
Stale food would not be kept in freezers. No consumer had ever complained about the quality of the food. The profit earned by the restaurant during the past three years was proof of the quality of the food it served.
A response book has been kept to record the suggestions of the customers. No complaint has been made by anyone so far. A complaint had been filed at the Corporation about the manner in which the raid has been conducted, he said.
