Kanam flays BJP at jagratha yathra meet

The attempts of the BJP, which has been punishing the public, to don the cloak of a saviour are despicable, CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran has said.

He was speaking at a public meeting organised as part of the Jana Jagratha Yathra in the district on Monday.

“In Tamil Nadu, the BJP leaders are raising hell over certain dialogues in a movie commenting on GST, demonetisation and unemployment. Now, what will they do to the Revenue Secretary who has made a statement against GST? The public should reject the Sangh Parivar’s moves against the film starring Vijay. It is unfortunate that the BJP is targetting the actor over his religion,” he said.

Mr.Rajendran also criticised State BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan over the slogan of his Janaraksha yathra - “We also want to live”.

“No one has forgotten how for the first time in our history an MLA had to take oath as Minister with his arms in a sling. How will Mr.Kummanam, who makes noise about physical attacks, react to the RSS workers who attacked Minister E.Chandrasekharan? The BJP is attempting to douse the flame held up by Sree Narayana Guru, Chattambi Swami and Ayyankali,” he said.

He said the opposition UDF is busy protesting against the State government instead of fighting the policies of the Central Government and the terror unleashed by the RSS.

“There is serious infighting in the Congress camp. Rahul Gandhi and A.K.Antony have failed to prepare a list of KPCC office-bearers from the State despite several attempts. The Congress should first solve the issues within the party before protesting against the LDF government,” he said.

On Monday the Jana Jagratha Yathra started from Nedumangad and covered Venjaramoodu, Sreekaryam, Murukkumpuzha, Varkala and concluded at Attingal.
