Kaliyoottu festival at Vellayani

On Monday, a ganamela by playback singer Chithra Iyer will be held.

The Kaliyoottu Mahotsavam at the Major Sri Vellayani Devi Temple will conclude on Wednesday. The festival, which happens once in every three years, is celebrated over a two-month period. On Monday, a ganamela by playback singer Chithra Iyer will be held at 9 p.m. On Tuesday, a dance performance of the Maheswara Dance Academy will be held at 7 p.m.

Paranett The Paranett ceremony, which marks the end of the Kaliyoottu, will be held at 10.15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Divine fight During the ceremony, the Devi idol will be placed on a raised platform and the idol of Darikan will be placed on another platform and a confrontation between the two imagined.

On Wednesday morning, the two idols will be brought to the ground, in a recreation of the fight on land.

The Aratt will be held at the Vellayani lake at 5.30 p.m.
