The Kadakampally Land Protection Action Council has asked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to take steps to end the woes faced by the residents of the place, including issues in remitting land tax.
Council leaders M. Vijayakumar; V. Sivankutty, MLA; and Kerala Congress (AMG) secretary-general George Sebastian told reporters here on Friday that Mr. Chandy should state his stance on Salim Raj, land scam accused and former gunman of his.
The council would intensify agitation from Monday if the Chief Minister delayed action on the demands raised, The District Collector had given an assurance that tax would be collected from the 200 families occupying the 44 acres of land at Kadakampally village. But, he retracted that statement and the Revenue authorities were not collecting tax from other families too in the vicinity. This was proof of Mr. Chandy’s links with Salim Raj, they said.
Though the court had ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), into the scam, the people expected no justice from the present political dispensation, they said.
