February 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Yatra led by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty will end here at Shanghumughom on Thursday with a public meeting to be attended by party national general secretary Khader Moideen.

The yatra, with the slogan ‘Friendship, Equality and Coordination,’ was set off from Majeswaram in Kasarogod district on January 24.

The public meeting chaired by State president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal will witness the participation of the Radhika Vemula and Raj Vemula Chaithanya Kumar, mother and brother of Hyderabad University research scholar Rohit Vemula, who allegedly committed suicide.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, IUML All India secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer and party State general secretary K.P.A. Majeed said the deceased scholar’s mother and brother would attend the public meeting to express their solidarity.

The yatra could highlight the necessity to retain power with the UDF and “irrelevance” of LDF in the State as well as at the national level, the IUML leaders said.
