The Kazhakuttam police have registered a case after an Italian national, working with a firm at the Technopark here, lodged a complaint that a man, aged around 25 years, attempted to outrage her modesty on the beach near Menamkulam.
S. Sreejith, sub-inspector, Kazhakuttam, said the woman, aged 38, who lived in a house close to the beach for the past five years, was on her regular evening visit to the beach. The youth assaulted her and attempted to outrage her modesty in public. She raised an alarm and the accused fled the spot before the people could nab him.
The police were investigating the incident and attempts were on to identify the accused on. A case has been registered under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, Mr. Sreejith said.
