IT products firms to be promoted

Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the government will focus on promoting products companies to ensure sustainable growth of the IT industry. He was speaking at an interaction with office-bearers of the Group of Technology Companies (GTech), the industry body of IT companies in Kerala, held at Technopark here on Tuesday.

The Minister offered support from the government for the proposed Fast Track Business Accelerator – Katalyst — to be launched in Thiruvananthapuram as a GTech initiative.

GTech also sought the support of the Centre in setting up an e-governance lab in partnership with Katalyst and Kerala State IT Mission to bridge the gap between the bureaucracy and the IT industry. Minister for Industries and Information Technology P.K. Kunhalikutty; BJP State president V. Muraleedharan; Secretary, Telecommunications, Rakesh Garg; Administrator, Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) Aruna Sundararajan. were present.
