IT Department questions Biju Ramesh

January 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Income Tax (IT) Department on Friday recorded the statement of Kerala Bar Hotels Association (KBHA) working president Biju Ramesh.

The procedure, which lasted for over four hours, is thought to be linked to Mr. Biju’s allegation that the KBHA had paid bribe to Finance Minister K.M. Mani to renew the licences of closed bars.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also reported to have evinced interest in the ongoing graft inquiry against Mr. Mani.

The ED is empowered to attach or confiscate property if it is found to have been acquired using wealth acquired through illegal means.
