International Arabic University mooted in State

: The Kerala State Higher Education Council has, in a report, has recommended the creation of an International Arabic University in the State.

The non-affiliating university headquartered in Palakkad would require investment of Rs. 90 crore. Of this, Rs. 75 crore is expected from the State and Union governments. The State government, according to the report, is expected to provide a grant of 35 per cent of this start-up fund, the Union government is expected to provide 65 per cent through Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. The remaining Rs. 15 crore is expected to be raised from donors in the country and abroad. The report can be accessed onwww.kshec.kerala.gov.in.

The proposed varsity is expected to offer certificate, diploma, and degree courses.
