Inauguration of Textile Centre in Taliparamba on April 16

The textile centre at Taliparamba in Kannur district, promoted by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi on April 16.

Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, will preside over the function.

The centre, on 124 acres of land, will have six operational pockets. A major pocket will comprise the proposed wet processing area. This will include a common effluent treatment plant, dyeing and winding plant, bonded warehouse, water harvesting pond and a hazardous waste treatment plant. Another pocket (of 33.76 acres of land) will be reserved for setting up weaving units. A mini-apparel park will come up on 9.70 acres of land. It will comprise the standard design factory, apart from a creche and a dispensary.

The textile centre is sponsored by the Union government and offers entrepreneurs incentives and training and management support.

Entrepreneurs will be able to make use of facilities including the conference and exhibition centres at the centre.

The centre is envisaged as a comprehensive textile industries park under the KINFRA International Apparel Park, a fully owned subsidiary of KINFRA. The centre is being developed under the Textile Centre Infrastructure Development Scheme (TCIDS) of the Central government.

Infrastructure like roads, electrical lines, power and water had been provided, the release said.
