For the first time in the history of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), a Delegate Cell has been opened at Tagore Theatre to streamline the distribution of festival kits and passes for those who have not collected them from State Bank of Travancore branches.

“In the past editions of the festival, there have been scenes of long queues and crowds clamouring outside the counters at Kairali and Kalabhavan theatres. With the participation increasing every year, we felt that it was time we set up a separate facility for the delegates, to collect their passes and kits,” said G.V. Hari, one of the festival organisers.

The Delegate Cell was inaugurated on Wednesday morning. Chalachitra Academy chairman and festival director S. Priyadarshan handed over the first kit and delegate pass to his predecessor K.R. Mohan.

Nine counters

Nine counters have been opened on the Tagore Theatre premises at Vazhuthacaud and over 750 delegates collected the festival kit, comprising a jute bag with IFFK insignia and a detailed handbook, on the first day. Festival kits will be distributed from six counters while three are set aside for distributing passes.

The cell will be open till December 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. After that they could be collected from Kairali theatre, the organisers said.

As in the previous years, transport between venues would be arranged for delegates. As many as 16 autorickshaws and 42 cars for delegates and guests had been arranged, they said.
