Honouring a doyen of Malayalam cinema

The Thiruvananthapuram film fraternity, in association with the State government and Vayalar Rama Varma Samskarika Vedi, will honour actor Nedumudi Venu at a function at Nishagandhi Auditorium in the capital on November 26.

An impressive array of personalities from film, political and cultural spheres will attend the reception. Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the function. Mayor V.K. Prasanth will preside.

Addressing a press conference here, film producer G. Suresh Kumar, representing the film fraternity, said Nedumudi Venu’s meeting with master dramatist Kavalam Narayana Panicker was a watershed moment in his life. His house is named ‘Thampu’ which is also the name of his first film directed by G. Aravindan. The ceremony will be based on this concept of going full circle, he added.

A musical journey ‘Nedumudi Geethakam’ in which music directors led by Bijibal will present a composition of Mr. Venu’s film songs will be held on the occasion.

The line-up of guests include Innocent, MP, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Madhu, M. Vijayakumar (chairman,KTDC), Kamal (chairman, Chalachitra Academy), K.P.A.C. Lalitha (chairperson, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy), among others.
