May 15, 2010 03:28 pm | Updated 03:28 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Residents Apex Council of Kerala (RACK) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, UPA chairperson, Union Law Minister, Kerala Governor, Chief Minister, Law Minister and Leader of the Opposition, seeking their intervention to set up a High Court Bench in the Sate capital.

Residents Apex Council of Kerala General secretary Paraniyam Devakumar said the establishment of the High Court Bench would be a fitting tribute to former MP Varkala Radhakrishnan who passéd away recently.

In the forefront

In a pressnote issued here, Mr. Devakumar said Radhakrishnan was in the forefront of the struggle for the High Court Bench.

“He also raised the demand in Parliament and outside for over five decades. There is no better way to acknowledge his work than by setting up the Bench,” Mr. Devakumar said.
