Governor P. Sathasivam has greeted the people of Kerala on the occasion of Onam.

“There is no other festival that is so widely accepted, warmly felt, and secularly celebrated. Let the celebration of Onam be a message of equality, true love, and oneness that Kerala conveys to the world,” he said.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said: “Onam is the occasion for people to put aside their differences and come together. Let this Onam be a celebration of secularism and equality.”

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said the spirit of equality and secularism exemplified by Onam was of growing relevance in an era of communal and casteist feelings.

In his message to the people, Chairman of Kerala Administrative Reforms Commission V.S. Achuthanandan said: “Let this Onam provide an opportunity to uphold the virtues of love and brotherhood.”
