Girls sweep top ranks in KU B.Sc. examinations

Girl students swept the first ranks of the B.Sc. examinations of the University of Kerala—the last of the regular annual stream courses—the results of which were published here on Saturday.

Of the 14 first ranks secured in the B.Sc. examinations of the University of Kerala,12 were bagged by girls. The first rank in Mathematics was shared by four students.

Of the 6,698 students who wrote the examinations, 3,801, passed with a first class, 1,099, with a second class and 461 with a third class. The pass percentage is 79.59. In 2011, the pass percentage was 76.25.

The highest pass percentage was for Biochemistry—93.80. The lowest pass percentage was for Polymer Chemistry—59.7. The highest number of students—1,485—appeared for Mathematics.

Scrutiny applications

The results are available at the University web site www.keralauniversity.ac.in. Applications for revaluation and scrutiny could be submitted till August 1.

The mark lists would be despatched to the respective centres by July 20.

The names of the first rank holders, their college and the subjects are given below.

Mathematics: S. Devika (Bishop Moore College, Mavelikkara), Asha S. Raj (St. Stephen’s College, Pathanapuram), Bintu Syam (SN College, Varkala), T. S. Sinulal (SN College, Kottarakkara).

Physics: M. Mayarani (NSS College Cherthala); Chemistry: R. Anju (SN College Varkala); Botany: V. S. Vindhya (DB College Sasthamcotta); Zoology: V. Meera (Bishop Moore College, Mavelikkara); Geology: Keerthy Suresh (SN College, Varkala); Statistics: Manjusha Murali (MSM College, Kayamkulam); Home Science: R. Rashmi (NSS College, Niramonkara); Geography: Aishwarya Philip (University College, Thiruvananthapuram); Polymer Chemistry; Princy Verghese (FMN College, Kollam); Bio-chemistry: Aswathy J. Mohan (TKM College, Kollam).

B.Com and B.A. results

According to university officials, the results of the B.Com examinations would be published in a couple of days and those of the B.A. examinations after the first week of July.
