Notorious gangster Rajesh alias Puthenpalam Rajesh, 37, of Kannammoola, was shifted from the sub-jail, where he was in judicial custody, to the Central Prison here on Tuesday for detention under the provisions of the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA).
According to the police, Rajesh, who was arrested and remanded in connection with an armed attack case in Vattiyurkavu a month back, was making a comeback to criminal activities after lying low for a couple of years. He had gone ‘silent’ after his alleged involvement in the Paul M. George murder case in Alappuzha. Twice detained under KAAPA earlier, in 2007 and 2008, Rajesh allegedly got involved in three cases this year — two in the Pettah police station limits and one in Vattiyurkavu. City Police Commissioner H. Venkatesh recommendied his detention under KAAPA and District Collector Biju Prabhakar issued orders on Tuesday.
