A total of Rs.93.62 lakh has been sanctioned for ensuring drinking water and constructing check-dams in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) colonies in Aruvikkara constituency, according to a press release issued by Speaker G. Karthikeyan here on Wednesday.

The colonies that stand to benefit from the water supply schemes are the Kaniyaramkode Idamala ST Colony in Tholikode panchayat, the Malayadi-Kurakonam colony, the Pankavu-Thottumpuram-Pongkumkuzhi colony in Kuttichal panchayat and the Kochu Kilikode colony in Vithura panchayat. The check-dams will be constructed under the environment-friendly small-scale drinking water schemes of the Hill Area Development Agency.

The check-dams will come up at Aamalathodu in Kuttichal panchayat and Aadamuzhi in Tholikode panchayat.

The other Scheduled Tribes colonies in the constituency would soon be extended the same schemes, according to the statement from the Speaker.
