Students up to Plus Two wearing uniform and possessing valid identity card will get free ride to the educational institution and back home in the private stage carriers operating in the capital district this academic year.
The identity card issued by the schools should have the detailed address of the student and route they commute daily. An agreement to this effect was reached during the meeting the Additional District Magistrate John Samuel had with the representatives of the union of private stage operators, students union leaders, officials of the Education Department and Regional Transport Officers (RTO) of Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal in the Collectorate here on Monday.
Free travel will be provided till July 1 to Plus two students boarding the bus wearing uniform and who do not have the concession card. The existing arrangement will continue for the second and third year degree students. However, the college authorities have been asked to provide details of the students needing free travel to the concerned RTO before June 30.
The meeting also arrived at a consensus on an agreement on providing free travel for the students of the private educational institutions in the district.
