The Federation of Residents Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan urging the government to take up a clutch of priority projects for the development of the capital city.
The projects mentioned in the memorandum include the establishment of an Electronics Hub and Telecom City at Menankulam, a film city at the Chitranjali studio complex and a theatre complex for the International Film Festival, preparation of a master plan for Kovalam, development of Peppara and Ponmudi as tourist spots and a national highway from Kottoor to Ambasamudram, construction of a suspension bridge across the Vellayani Lake at Kakkamoola and a flyover from Kesavadasapuram to East Fort.
It also called for the establishment of an apparel park at Koliyakode and a biotechnology park and the renovation of the Parvathy Puthanar canal as a waterway.
The association proposed the inclusion of these projects in the action plan formulated in connection with the fourth anniversary celebrations of the LDF Government. FRAT president Sasidharan Nair and general secretary G.Ravindran Nair submitted the memorandum to the Chief Minister.
