Four killed in two accidents in Thiruvananthapuram district

As many as four persons, including three women, were killed and at least 10 seriously injured in two accidents in the district on Friday. Rajani, a 26-year-old woman, was fatally injured when the scooter on which she was riding pillion collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus in front of the Accountant General’s office here around 11.45 a.m. Her father, Madhavan Potty, 59, of Sreedevi Bhavan, Ilipode, who was driving the vehicle was admitted to the medical college hospital (MCH) here with serious injuries.

Assistant Commissioner, Traffic, R. Mahish said a preliminary forensic reconstruction of the accident seemed to suggest that the accident occurred when Madhavan tried to overtake the bus through the left side.

At 6.30 a.m., three persons were killed when the van in which they were travelling lost control, veered to the right side of the road, and rammed a private bus, which had just started moving after picking up passengers from the bus stop at Alamcode in Attingal.

The police identified the deceased as Gopi, 65, Usha, 45, and Kamalamma, 56. They were part of a 10-member of group of relatives from Kayamkulam bound for the Thiruvallam Parasurama temple in the city.
