Four killed in separate accidents

Four persons, including three motorcyclists, were killed in separate road accidents that occurred at Parasala and Pallipuram and at Manacaud in the city on Thursday.

Two persons were killed when a KSRTC bus that was coming from Kaliyikkivila on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border to Poovar rammed the Family Welfare Centre near Karaili, half-a-km away from Parasala junction, around 7.30 p.m.

According to the rural police, the attempt of the KSRTC driver to save a pedestrian resulted in the accident.

The bus knocked down Anil Kumar, 38, who was riding a motorcycle, and swerved to the left before ramming the Family Welfare Centre. Anil Kumar, a resident of Puthuvelputhen Veedu, Vattavila near Amaravila, who was trapped under the bus was extricated by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel.

A pedestrian, who succumbed to his injuries, was not identified.

The Parasala police have registered a case. One body was kept in a government hospital and the other in a private hospital, the police said.

Student killed

In second incident, a 17-year-old student was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a mobile power generation unit of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) near Manacaud junction in the Fort police station limits around 7 p.m.

The incident took place when Rafiq, a Plus Two student of the St. Joseph Higher Secondary School here, was proceeding to his house in the motorcycle.

The accident took place near the departmental store on the East Fort-Manacaud-Thiruvallom road.

Hospital sources said the boy was brought dead. Rafiq is survived by his mother Aysha.

In another incident, a 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed after the two-wheeler he was driving collided with a car near Pallipuram on the NH 47 around 6.45 p.m. Medical College Hospital sources said the deceased was identified as Linoj, 30, a resident of Mudakkal, Chembore, in the district.

The body is kept in he mortuary.
