Forest staffers couldn’t vote: KFSA

May 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Forest Staff Association (KFSA) has said nearly 750 personnel of the Forest Department who were on poll duty across the State were unable to cast their votes.

In a statement, KFSA district president Gopalakrishnan Nair said most personnel were informed of their election duty after 5 p.m. on May 13 by when the deadline for applying for postal ballots had come to an end. The late issue of the posting orders denied several staff members the opportunity to apply for postal ballots. The KFSA has urged for steps to enable the personnel to exercise their right to franchises.
