Five persons, all travelling on two-wheelers, lost their lives in three accidents in the district on Sunday.

In an accident at Pongumoodu, three of a family, including a seven-year-old boy, were killed when the two-wheeler they were travelling on rammed a speeding KSRTC bus. The dead were identified as Harikumar, 43, an employee of the Regional Cancer Centre, who was killed on the spot, while his wife Ambili, 30, and son, Aravind, 7, succumbed to their injuries at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital about an hour later.

In another accident on the Kattakada-Vizhinjam road, near Balaramapuram, at 7 a.m., a 36-year-old woman was killed after she fell off the two-wheeler on which she was riding pillion. According to the Balaramapuram police, Sajitha, a homemaker, was travelling with her husband, Jose, when the accident occurred. Vinod, 30, resident of Kovanamcode, Kottukal, died after he lost control of the two-wheeler that he was riding and crashed into a wall.
