Five persons were injured when a police vehicle escorting Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s vehicle lost control and rammed a car and a lorry near Karettu here this evening.

The Kilimanoor police said the police vehicle, attached to the Pallikkal station, was accompanying Mr. Chandy’s vehicle coming from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram.

The police vehicle skidded, hitting a lorry and a car that were coming from the opposite direction around 5.30 p.m. Three policemen, including a sub-inspector, and two passengers of the car, including a woman, sustained minor injuries in the accident. The Kilimanoor police have registered a case.
