Five held on charge of immoral trafficking

Five people, including two women, were arrested by the Kadakkavoor police on charges of immoral trafficking.

Those arrested have been identified as Lins, 35, of Attingal, the prime accused; Suresh Babu, 35, of Manamboor; Thomas, 27, of Vizhinjam; Sudha, 26, of Tuticorin; and Vijaya, 34, of Nagercoil. They were apprehended from a house belonging the prime accused at Manamboor, near Chirayinkeezhu, on Wednesday night.

G.B. Mukesh, Circle Inspector, Kadakkavoor, said local people who were told by the suspects that they were involved in short-film making grew suspicious of their activity and alerted the police.

The police could not find any equipment related to film shooting at the house, he said.

The women were found to be employees of a garment company in Tamil Nadu. A car, five mobile phones, and Rs.10,000 were seized from the arrested. They were produced in the Judicial First Class Magistrate-I court at Varkala and remanded in judicial custody.
