Fishermen from capital missing in UAE

Five fishermen, natives of Poonthura in the State capital and working in the United Arab Emirates, have been reported missing for the last six days.

According to a statement by Antony Raju, the LDF’s Thiruvananthapuram Assembly segment candidate here on Sunday, the five men had gone for fishing off Ras-Al-Khaimah in the UAE and had not returned so far. The missing men were identified as Anthonis, 28, his brother Rajan, 26, Mariadasan, 27, Soosanayakam, 44, and Suran. Mr. Raju said he had faxed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union External Affairs Ministry, and the Indian Embassy in Dubai requesting help to trace the missing men. — Special Correspondent
