Federal Bank staff’s agitation

MP inaugurates dharna

April 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The officers and employees of the Federal Bank held a dharna here on Wednesday as part of the ongoing nationwide agitation of the bank’s officers and employees.

A press note issued here said Member of Parliament A. Sampath inaugurated the dharna. The wrong polices and practices of the bank’s management are adversely affecting the institution’s progress.

There is a move to sell off the bank’s assets.

The decision to make ‘outside appointments’ at high costs has had a negative impact on the bank’s progress, the press note said. Instead of focussing on core banking activities, the bank is diversifying into businesses such as insurance.

If the bank does not correct such wrong policies it would have to face strikes and agitations by its employees, the press note added.
