June 29, 2012 12:37 pm | Updated 12:37 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Indian Oil Corporation has introduced Automated Unified System of LPG refill booking for Indane customers in Thiruvananthapuram district.

The multimodal system that came into effect on Thursday is designed to make refill booking faster, simpler and more efficient and enables the customers to book, round-the-clock, their refills through SMS or IVRS by dialling 99618 24365.

In IVRS, the customers can select either English or Malayalam from the language option. The telephone number of the distributor with STD code has to be provided. Once the distributor is identified, the system will prompt the customer to enter the consumer number, and the customer will have to dial the numeric part of the customer number. After the customer number is identified, the system provides option for refill booking or other services.

Once refill booking is accepted, a booking reference number will be given and an SMS will be sent to the mobile number. The personal mobile number of the consumer can be registered by SMS.

Those using the SMS facility for the first time should SMS IOC <space> <STD code + Distributors Telephone Number> <space> <consumer number > to 99618 24365. The IOC will give a confirmation message once the process is completed.

For subsequent bookings, the customer can send SMS IOC to 99618 24365. Once the customer registers his or her mobile number, subsequent refill bookings can be made by sending an SMS <IOC> to the number.

Mobile or land line number can be registered as the consumer’s personal number.

According to Deputy Manager (LPS Sales), IOC, Thiruvananthapuram, R.S. Pillai, three telephone numbers (mobile and landline) can be registered by one consumer number. However, SMS will be sent to the first registered mobile number. Steps have been incorporated to avoid misuse by any third person and delivery persons. If the consumer changes his mobile number, it has to be informed to the distributor in writing.
