Minister for Panchayats M.K. Muneer has appealed to the Student Police Cadets (SPC) to spread their area of work to ensure social justice and welfare.
Participating in a model Assembly of the SPC here on Monday, he said the cadets should not confine their work to schools. They should shoulder the responsibility of bringing about social justice and equitable development.
The cadets should be able to kindle society to take up responsibilities. By the work, the students should be able to set standards in society, particularly among the younger generation, the Minister said.
The model Assembly is part of the ongoing seven-day training camp of the SPC. As many as 516 students from various schools across the State are participating in the camp, a press release issued by the State government said.
Governor’s message
The cadets also had a chance to interact with Governor Nikhil Kumar, himself a former police officer.
A press note issued here said the Governor, in reply to a question, told the cadets that he had been inspired to take up policing as a career ‘after he realized that government servants, too, could serve the country selflessly and with conviction.’ During many difficult situations in the course of his career, it was personal discipline that helped him tide over the crises, a press note quoted Mr. Nikhil Kumar as saying.
The cadets were accompanied by State Nodal Officer of the SPC Project and City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan and Abdul Karim, Additional State Nodal Officer, the press note added.
