New Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala P.K. Radhakrishnan has said that among his top priorities will be the time-bound conduct of examinations and courses and the publication of examination results.
He was speaking to mediapersons here on Monday afternoon after assuming charge as VC in the morning.
“Many a time students lose out on careers because university examinations are not held on time or because the results are not published on time. Everyone in the university — from the sweeper to the Vice Chancellor — is there to help the students,” Dr. Radhakrishnan said.
He said the syllabi of various courses, particularly science, needed to be revised and upgraded periodically. On the quality of research in Kerala’s universities, Dr. Radhakrishnan said they could not aspire to reach the standards of institutions such as the IITs because they lacked adequate infrastructure and unlike the IITs, did not have the “cream of the faculty.”
When asked about the delay on the part of the University of Kerala in getting itself re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) the Vice Chancellor said he wanted to get the re-accreditation done as fast as possible.
