Strict action would be taken against officials who were deliberately trying to sabotage the working of the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), district panchayat president V.K. Madhu, who is also the District Planning Committee chairman, said.

A directive has been given to the Panchayat Deputy Director to take action against those who had not realised the economic benefits even seven months after the commencement of the project, the official statement said.

A directive has been issued to remove inefficient contractors from the scheme’s projects. The water rejuvenation works to survive the forthcoming summer requires the participation of MGNREGS workers. But the callousness of certain officers had stalled such works.
