The Election Commission has released the expenditure details of the candidates for the Assembly election in the district.
There are major discrepancies in the expenditure statements submitted by the candidates and the ones released by the commission as per its shadow register.
Eight candidates have been found to have overshot the spending limit of Rs.28 lakh.
First in the list
Leading the list of spenders is the LDF’s Parassala candidate C.K. Hareendran, who spent Rs.43.14 lakh (Rs.8.05 lakh declared by candidate).
The UDF’s Neyyatinkara candidate R. Selvaraj spent Rs.35.82 lakh (Rs.10.02 lakh declared).
Others who have overshot the limit are the UDF’s Vamanapuram candidate T. Sarathchandraprasad who spent Rs.34.59 lakh (Rs.3.98 lakh declared), BJP candidate in Vattiyurkavu Kummanam Rajasekharan with Rs.33.41 lakh (Rs.14.41 lakh declared), BJP candidate in Thiruvananthapuram S. Sreesanth who spent Rs.31.61 lakh (Rs.12.43 lakh declared), BJP candidate in Kattakkada P.K. Krishnadas with Rs.30.52 lakh (Rs.10.34 lakh declared), BJP candidate in Parassala Karamana Jayan with Rs.30.47 lakh (Rs.14.55 lakh declared) and LDF candidate in Kattakada I.B. Satheesh with Rs.28.98 lakh (Rs.12.87 lakh declared).
