Water supply to the Peroorkada and Sasthamangalam areas was disrupted on Saturday morning when a 400-mm primo pipeline of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) burst at Pippinmoodu, on the Sasthamangalam-Peroorkada road. The leak was detected around 7 a.m. and the line was closed around 10 a.m. to take up repair.

The line, ferrying water from Peroorkada tank to Sasthamangalam, will be repaired by Sunday. A senior official of the water utility said the work could get delayed in case of rain.

“We are working to resume water supply by Sunday noon. But, in case it rains resumption of supply will be delayed,” the official said. The line had no history of burst and the cause would be ascertained, he said.

The burst had caused damage to a portion of the road, he added.
